Filling holes in trunk...

A friend of mines car used to have a wing on the trunk, and there are 2 holes on each side of the trunk,What would be the Best/easiest way to fill in the holes?I was thinking a piece of alluminum backing plate under the trunk and just welding the holes in with a mig..

Reply:Use a backer and body filler (Bondo).  If you weld it the heat may deform the panels and it will damage the paint even if there is no warping.  In addition it is a lot easier to do over if you don't like the results from your first try.
Reply:You can always cut the patch piece a little big and run a bead of silicone around the outside, then rivet it in. Not the most professional fix, but it's quick and easy. -Cory
Reply:use a copper backer (weld won't stick) grind and metal finish. metl is always a stronger bet than miracle mud.

Reply:Go to the scrapyard and get a replacement .....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Originally Posted by 69 chevySorry, but the best way is not the easiest!!!  Everyone else gave suggestions for the best way so I'll give you the easiest way.Buy two plastic plugs at the hardware store the size of the mounting holes.  Smear a little clear silicone sealer on them and pop them in.  No need to weld or refinish the trunk.
Reply:just get 2 of the little LED light up windshiels washer fluid spray nosels and use them to plug the hole, that way you got cool blue (or collor of your preferance) running lights in the trunk. well that or get a copper bar and mig weld it. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
