Hi,I'm interested in learning the correct and best method for repairing cracked hydraulic hardpipes. I have to weld these quite often at my job, and would like to make sure I am doing it properly.Currently I have have good luck with heavily grinding out the crack, relieving the ends with a small drillbit, laying a few beads of 6010's and covering with 7018. On a side note- I use the 6010's because our manager apparently refuses to supply the shop with a dryer for welding rods- - Im no expert in metallurgy but I've heard of hydrogen cracking atleast.Thanks for any help
Reply:Sounds like you're on the right track. Tigging the root will help keep the spatter out of the pipe, though. |
