Trying to get my '57 Ford done for Back To The Fifties, well at least able to drive and stop on it's own power, one of the things I've been working on is putting it on air ride, I don't care for the stock valve mounts and wanted to mount the fill and dump valve together for each wheel.  Made these out of some scrap sheet metal drops I got from work, used the bead roller to add a little to it.  Used the finger brake to do the bends and then welded the floor mounts on.  Still got the other one to weld the sides on, then I got 2 more to make for when I get the rear bagged too.  That photo it's not bent it's distortion from the wide angle lens I use on my camera.Let me know what you think.I know one of them is made with the bead sunk down and the other is with it up, couldn't decide which way to go but after seeing them side by side I decided up.Last edited by Antibling; 06-07-2009 at 11:54 PM.
Reply:Nice,Gives rise to many questions.Where do the brackets mount? What do you do with the rear leaf spring when you install a bag?How many MPH is your speedometer? Was this you?  Attachment 34254Odd post, because I was just thinking about these cars when I  looked at "What Is It?  #28." I thought how #28 resembled a Ford retractable hardtop's top latching screw mechanism.Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 10-19-2010 at 11:39 PM.
Reply:The brackets will be mounted in the trunk.  The rear leaf springs will be gone all together, I'll put in a 4 link.Off hand I guess I don't know how many MPH my speedometer is, I know I've had it up to 80 on the interstate so over 80.Nope, whish mine was that good condition, a Fairlane, and a 2 door.  This is mine:
Reply:What's the plan? That'd  make a nice patrol car, or better yet  ‘shine runner. '57 Ford is high on my favorites list.I sort of like 'em better without Fairlane bumpers. This is a random picture that came up with a Google images search, but check the speedometer from each end and you'll see what I'm getting at.Attachment 34289Last edited by denrep; 10-19-2010 at 11:39 PM.
Reply:Well plans can be shot out the door pretty fast.  I bought the car when I was working 72 hours a week, the plan was to drive it, fix up the body over the winter and air bag it.  Hours got cut so just getting it airbagged is the challenge now.  Now tonight I find out no job in a couple weeks, so the plan is to get it rolling again, front air bagged, and drive it when I can, need to find a new job.
Reply:Shoot, they drive nice on steel springs, run it!Got paar steerin' ?
Reply:No no power steering, and no going back to steel springs up front, not without new lower control arms.
