Anybody in my part of the world that buys SS?  I have been getting more and more knick knack jobs needing tubing, flat bar, and rod.  The two places I have tried thus far are super high and didnt have all I needed in stock either.  Have anyone you are happy with?Lots of toys.
Reply:Stainless Steel is high every place. That is the market right now. Try buying it from  other places that use it as they get a bulk price. For instance, I buy my sheet SS from a place that makes hospital air purification filters and get it for about $1.00 less per pound.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I know its high.  The reason I say too high is that I have checked prices at distributors in Houston and Oklahoma city.  Really I can get the same stuff for less, but freight of course makes it alittle more.Lots of toys.
Reply:Try to find a SS manufacturer in your area and ask if you can look in their waste in, or maybe a scrap yard, you 'll be amazed what you can find, I have picked up a lot for next to nothing. Also, many old busses have SS handrails and seat frames you can get for nothing.Michael_99

Reply:Brandon, " nick nack" I saw as "small bits and pieces" but with " pristine" you just might have to bite the bullet. I'm lucky, I live just 10 min from one of the few scrap yard dealing with SS in town. Most of Brisbane's scrap ss comes here.Michael_99
Reply:Brandon  you might check out Garland Steel.  I buy steel from them all the time and prices aren't bad but not great either. However, they have a lot of decent stainless scrap and odds and ends.  The best price I've found on new steel is from McKinney steel co that's actually north of McKinney but I'm sure if they handle SS.  Its a little farther drive but well worth it.  They're out in the boonies and they will often cut what you need for free.  I was out there just pricing steel for a rig I made to lift concrete blocks (1800 lb blocks) and I needed 3.5 inch square tube by 1/4 thick in 4ft lengths.  I planned on going back with the trailer and loading up the 20 ft lengths instead they cut it up into 4 ft pieces and loaded my Honda accord down (literally).  They were really good people to work with in my opinion.Hope that helpsMichael
