I've been using .030" E71T-GS wire in a MM175 since I bought it used this past december. The welder works great, but I'm constantly needing to take the tip apart for cleaning. I've bought nozzle dip, and that seems to help somewhat... but the problem persists. I know this FC wire creates more slag than other FC wire. I've been a recreational welder for over 10 years and never dealt with a problem like this.
Reply:If you aren't using gas then there is a nozzle that covers the whole tip and just lets the wire out, prevents the problem you are having. Otherwise, anti-spatter spray has worked for me although I almost never use flux core.HH 187Miller Bluestar1EAHP AlphaTig 200X
Reply:Yeh shelf the gas nozzle and get one of the flux core nozzles. About $10.00 or minus for the M10 guns. Basically just guards the gas diffuser holes and protects the metal portion of the gun from accidental bumps. Lots smaller diameter too so the visibilty is improved quite a bit. Consider it a consumable just like the tips, you'll slowly cook 'em and need a new one every now and then.Next try tuning the set up and your technique for more of a hiss. You'll have less of that heavy spatter and more slag cover and dust.Last edited by Sandy; 09-22-2011 at 11:37 PM."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
