I'll be buying a Tig/Stick welder soon, and am wondering if stick poses as many problems as tig. I'll be welding mainly SS fittings for my boat,18mm tube and flat plate. Also, can I use an arc welder with ss rods to weld ss. I have a mig and arc welder already.Regards Michael_99
Reply:While they both get the job done...Tig all the way... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:tig for those sort of things.i used 5mm s/s rods for welding impaller bladesfor jetboats.that was somegood welding 99 % of the time the slag wouldpeel back like a banana skin.the day you stop learning in this tradeis the day your in your grave
Reply:For stainless fittings and things of that size, TIG all the way.  Neater, ultimately less expensive, less warpage, etc.
