http://madison.craigslist.org/fuo/2614282768.htmlI'm on a tight budget and can't afford a big machine now. I'm not going to welding any thick metal just exhaust and some sheet metal on my sons go kart.
Reply:Is Flux-Core only. Not really very useable for thin sheet metal (what kids call tin). Hold out for something that can use gas and solid wire. Is better for thin sheet metalGordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."
Reply:Hey bergoff,I would suggest you go look at the unit. Many times a welder is listed with a partial description & maybe the owner only needed to use flux-core for general repairs. That doesn't mean that the unit is not capable to use solid wire with gas & has the solenoid already equipped. A couple years ago I found a Millermatic130 on C/L listed as flux-core welder & went to look at it. The owner said one of his employees ordered it to do a couple repair jobs for him & only used it once. It had a full roll of Hobart E71T-11 & I could see the red plastic plug on the back where the gas connector went. I ended getting it for $125 & it was pristine & it now resides on my mobile unit. I use it for all the sheetmetal welding I do on classic/show car resto's I de each year. Go look at it.......DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:I called him and he didn't know much about the welder just that its 70amp. He didn't know the model no and if it was a hot or cold start gun. He was upfront and said it wasn't a big unit which I already knew. So if its still for sale Thursday I'll run up and take a look at it. It has to be better than a habor freight welder.
Reply:Looks like it reads Dual Process on the top and the Gun looks like a Mig nozzle on it- heck for 50 bux it is still worth it even if it is a Fluxcore only.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge

Reply:Well I went up and bought the welder today. I can't believe he still had it. He said it was flux only but it also accepts gas. He didn't know much about it and said it was only 60amps but it said 85amps. He obviously didn't know anything about it. It still has the original wire from 1994. Is there anything that I should do to it to make sure its up to snuff? It turns in and the fan works and it will weld. But I don't have a helmet yet so I can't do anything.
Reply:Id check the drive rolls to make sure they're in good shape, look over the whole machine for possible issues, see if the consumables are worn out in the gun, and then pick up a helmet and go for it Congrads on your purchase, for the price, thats a "steel" [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:buy the welder, I have the same one pretty sure, works like a charm and mine is gas compatible. the wire is hot all the time, but it welds very nice, imo the only down side is the gap between the 3 and 4 heat setting. it is heavy as heck compared to a lincoln weldpak 100. i run mine on flux all the time as well, originally they came with a floor height sheetmetal frame and wheels with a tank holder, if you dont use a tank they are pretty obnoxious so many disappear. I will go take a pick of the front of mine and it looks identical.. great low end welder IMO.they did make a downgraded flux core only version but they are still miles above HF.Last edited by Ryf; 10-02-2011 at 07:53 PM.Reason: added photoHobart Handler 190 Century 90amp on FluxCraftsman 200amp buzzbox

Reply:Ryf mine is just like yours just 5amps smaller. I can't wait to get back from CO and practice and see what I can do.
Reply:lol mine was the same way since I got it in trade and let it sit on my shelf for 5 years because I had no time to play with it. now that I do, I popped off the covers and hit it with a brush head shop vac and changed the wire and liner and its been flawless. great buy.Hobart Handler 190 Century 90amp on FluxCraftsman 200amp buzzbox |
