Dude calls, said so n so referred you, need a bung welded on oil pan. I asked where the bung was and he didn't have one. Wanted me to make one so I did. Woulda been cheaper to buy one but he was in hurry. When he showed up the pan had the larger darker fitting installed with a bunch of epoxy around it. Heated it unscrewed the fitting and cleaned it. Found cracks. Heated to 350, tig welded with 4043, post heat 350. last pic is drop through. On non critical stuff I cheat, not grinding crack out. If you watch puddle you will notice when drop through starts and can cool with filler and move to freeze. Too much drop is a pain to grind out.Peter Attached Images
Reply:I've never pre or post heated cast aluminum, except for when it's a really thick area and I'm running underpowered. Oh.. on another note.. The head worked for the guy. The brazing held up. Thanks again.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
