I'm certain this has been asked a million times and if someone wants to just point me at the thread, off I'll go Did a search and came up with lots of stuff that didn't answer my question and ran thru several pages of old threads.So..got the Lincoln Pro-Mig 175 and am planning to use it to: Learn to weld using various square tube and plates that I have lying around (up to 1/4" but mostly 1/8 and 3/16)Weld shock supports on my Jeep axle housing and also some solid round stock into bolt holes in my frame.And the first and foremost rookie project...build the cart for the welder to sit on.For general use and all around the house welding, do I want to use an 80/20 mix or a 75/25 mix?Thanks in advance!Roger
Reply:I would recommend using a 75/25 mix.It can also be called, C-25, SteelMix, Gold Gas, etc. It depends on the supplier.For me, 75/25 provides the best all around results for penetration and splatter control.If you are going to be burning a lot of the thicker materials (like 1/4" and up) , you might want to have a 2nd bottle with just CO2 in it.
