I have my stick welder on a separate sub panel from the house, is that enough to isolate it from the rest of the houses circuits? Should I be concerned with equipment failure in the house?
Reply:You say it is a stick welder. What do you think you need to protect against????In general having on a separate circuit ain't going to do squat for most potential threats if you have something super sensitive on other circuits. Usually there an isolation transformer is used.In my last house I had the welding outlet right at the power panel within a foot. The house was automated, used stuff like X-10 which can be damaged by booboo's from the electrical system, usually things like surges or lightning or whatever. Was sensitive too how things were wired, ground conditions, etc. I welded a lot with a stick machine, zero problems. What do you think needs protected??? What is going to harm it???
Reply:If you have something super sensitive that needs to be protected you need a power conditioner. For normal stuff I wouldn't worry about it.HH 187Miller Bluestar1EAHP AlphaTig 200X
Reply:Thanks Cosmic, but I believe your thinking the wrong end of things. I'm not concerned with the buzz box itself, that thing is bulletproof. I was thinking about the router, computer, tv, etc. Grey, what exactly is a power conditioner? Like a UPS for a computer? |
