I have one of those gazillion BTU torches, but heats too large an area. And when I turn pressure down it blows soot. This one burns clean from 5 to 15 psi, wants to blow out past 15. Stainless scrap, tig brazed brass stock in end of 3/4 tube and turned weld down. drilled and tapped for .035 mig tip. 1.25  tube with 1.5 flame holder.Peter Attached Images

Reply:Awesome build.  Do you have to ignite it yourself? It's not what you can buy, it's what you can build.

Reply:How does it perform with larger and smaller Mig tips?
Reply:Did you experiment with how far to position the MIG tip orifice inside the shroud?  Seems to work great, but I'd figure to get the right draft you'd have to have the tip just the right distance inside the shroud?Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector

I've looked at several home made and purchased burners and am curious what you chose to do.castweld: Very nice work. I might have to look into building something like that for my lead pot.
Reply:Thanks for the picts of the forge. I'm saving the link and picts and I'll let you know if I get the time to try and put one together.I take it the swivel plates allow you to adjust the air flow and the tips are inside. Propane or natural gas? What sort of reg do you use and how many psi?
