i know you can use mig wire for a tig filler rod. my 1/16" wire is to big for welding my patch panel together so i am going to lowes and buy some mig wire for these mild steel panels. this stuff is like 16-18 gauge metal. what size filler wire, and which type? i know nothing about mig wire. thanks, robert
Reply:.025 is probably the smallest wire you would find. You can use .030 and just adjust your heat/speed.Fire!, Fire! Oh wait, that's my torch...Lincoln PT-225 TIGLincoln 175 MIG

Reply:You can buy smaller diameter TIG wire. Mig wire will be a pain in the but because it's coiled. You can straighten it pretty easy by twisting two strands togeter with a drill, but two strands of .030 will be pretty close to 1/16".My LWS stocks TIG wire down to .040".Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!
Reply:my supply house closes at noon. i wanted to finish these panels today. the .025 wire is hard to hold, but it worked, and that is all that matters. going monday to get some .040 just to have around. thanks for the help.
