Menards near us has a few fluxcore welders on sale that are 110 and no gas.Does anyone have any experience with these. Wondered if it would be a good hobby welder.I have a small clarke stick welder and have had good luck with it. I was just curios in case they have to drop em more to move em.
Reply:I've used similar ones and they worked fine for me.  I wouldn't use it for anything more than occassional messin' around on light stuff.Don't expect to weld anything thicker than 1/8"
Reply:Clarke is a good welder. I've had their small MIG for about 3 years now and weld something with it just about everyday. Solid, reliable, and smooth operation.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:btw, I had the 130en and 180en.  I didn't see the craftsmanship of the Lincoln or Miller units but they weren't really that bad though.  I have enough problems with the trusty big Red and Blue as it is and not sure if i'd trust a Clarke for industrial use.  But if MicroZone says it's good, i'd take his word for it.I was actually recently looking into buying another 130en to do light gauge welding on the road, hooking it up to my generator.  It's a really good deal...
Reply:I just spent the week with my wife in Little Rock at a equipment seminar. It was for her work but when I ate lunch I was lucky enuff to sit and chat with one of Clarkes top guys and it was kinda neat.  They are made in Italy and have a 10 yr waranty on most parts. I'd have to check out all the literature but Precisionworks swears by their hotshot model. (spoolgun) not sure if he is a member here but he is a good guy.He (the Clarke man) told me they are getting ready to introduce some small AC tigs as well. The outfit my wife works for is dropping Lincoln and going with Clarke  Seemed sorta odd to me but then you gotta make money and I don't think they sold many Lincolns but they was the Century rebadges or whatever and I was overhearing guys after the seminar pretty stoked about pushing the Clarkes. They were quite impressed with the TEN yr  warranty.Miller Dynasty 700Miller 350P with Aluma-pro push-pullMiller 280 Dynasty with expansion card Dynasty 200 DXMigMax 215 Enuff power and hand tools to create one of anything..... but mass produce nothing!!!
Reply:Thanks for the replies guys I don't know what I'll do yet.I saw at TSC they have a farmhand 95 fluxcore welder made by campbell hausfeld and it's even cheaper. But I do know I have good luck with my clarke stick welder and it's not chinese,it's italian like ferrari right.
Reply:I would be curious to know how the clarke works out for ya, I seen in our local orschelns store that they have a clarke hotshot, the spoolgun model marked way down to $250.  I have been wanting to get it to see if it would work with aluminum, but have been scared off by the clarke name.  So if you get one and try it out, let us know how you like it.
