Does anybody make a unit that is gas driven and does it all right out of the box? Stick/TIG/Plasma Cutting? The accessories purchased afterward are very expensive.
Reply:Anything that stick welds TIG welds. Plasma cutting is a different story.
Reply:So then is there a machine that comes equipped for this? Do I have to spend 4k on the welder and then 2k for the tig accessory?.. or does any machine come equipped as I originally asked?
Reply:I will attempt to answer your question with the knowledge I have: NO. I know of not one company that has a package unit that comes complete with what you want. The two things you asked for Tig/Stick are not even available as far as I know. (Hold on there, before you start mocking me. Yes, a stick unit can tig and a tig unit can stick for the most part, but only if you want to use scratch start or a lift start) If you want non-contact starts, high Freq, any balance control or square waveform, water cooling, water control, gas valving and control, you will need to buy an add on module. Now, I bought my Lincoln Ranger 9 and at the same time bought the Lincoln HF Tig module that has a docking station on top of the Ranger 9, IF you bought the docking station. Now, I have both, but they were not a package unit. The Plasma cutter is a completely different beast in that the circuitry in the plasma is not what is used for welding machines. And as far as I know, not one manufacturer makes a welding/plasma machine. Even if they did it would be a compromise of features that very few would find appealing. Even my tig unit is a compromise to a dedicated tig unit which has wave balanc control, pulsing, and square wave. My unit merely adds Hi Freq to the output.Last edited by Joker11; 09-11-2007 at 06:50 PM.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain

Reply:Thanks! The Miller products look nice.. and comparable to Lincoln in pricing.
Reply:You may want to double check that before you buy it. I just went to the Miller link provided. It does not show all those features you want in one package. It looks like it supports those features, but to me it does not look like they are all included. Considering I just paid a couple grand just for my thermal dynamics cutmaster 101, I doubt that you will get a plasma cutter, hf tig, engine driven welder for about 3 to 5 grand. But if it is an ALL IN ONE package, let me know, I will switch to Miller!...NOT.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
Reply:i have a trailblazer 302 with a HF unit, the generator puts out enough power to use a plasma cutter as well, but remember you need an air source as well to run a plasma torch. if i had to do it all over again i might look at getting an inverter machine and a generator. my trailblazer doesn't have near the same options for fine control of the arc as the newer inverters.
Reply:So are you saying that the HF is built in or it's an add on module? Also, are you saying that you can plug a plasma torch into the machine itself and all you need is air? Or are you saying that the unit has enough power to run a plasma cutter that would be plugged into the unit's AC electrical outlets? I am not trying to be a bonehead, I am seriously asking now. Because I have not actually seen those units firsthand. I also agree that my Lincoln engine driven welder and HF unit does not have the finer controls that I would like to have. Pulse and wave balance would be awesome to have.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
Reply:I understand that everything's not included in the base price, but Miller has a package that includes the tig that I was looking at.
