I'm so envious of those with a shear and a bender. This is crude but is more than adequate for it's intended purpose and location. 16 ga, all cuts done with a reciprocating saw, all bends done with a bench vise - pieces of  angle iron - vise grips - and an assortment of colorful cuss words. Reply:Sounds like a lot of work, working with the real basic tools, but the end product looks good on the rig.Miller Dynasty 300dxSpeedglas 9002XMiller Spectrum 375 XtremeLincoln PowerMig 255xtLincoln PowerMig 140cMilwuakee Portaband
Reply:sawzall and 16 gauge. been there to the tune of packs and packs of blades.  I feel for ya. really nice job tho. Honestly. IMHO. Tools are nice to have. BUT it's the man behind the tools that make the difference!  You keep going with that attention to detail, You are doing  A OK in my book. Reply:Willie, i am learnin about the order of bendini recently got a HF scroller/bender, and have many times said a bad word,, as you say you get one bend made and now cant do the second one cause the first one wont let the piece go in the machine..makes me feel very dumb and then i say a bad word..
Reply:It looks good to me!  Nothing worth stressing over.  The outside looks pro and I'll bet a case of beer that nobody who sees it on the street will give two sh*ts about what the underside of it looks like!  One thing I've learned is that if you don't have a tool that would make the job super easy, you find a way to make something else do the same job anyway!Last edited by mb_welder; 07-19-2009 at 02:18 AM.
