The first cut is the deepestAll cuts on drivers side were made so that the slag was blown outboard of the fuel tanks.  Welding blanket was used to protect paint, tires, fuel fill hoses, and brake components.  Lottsa water tooCuts on passenger side were blown inwards.Something like this, I don't want a nice narrow cut.  I make a double width cut and make sure there's nothing but air between the cut pieces.  I don't want to have to fool around with dingleberries when I lift the bed off tomorrow.  It's just a matter of blowing more metal out of the top or bottom of the cut.I also prefer a tip capable of cutting up to 1/2".  It's too big for the stuff being cut here, but it's faster on the preheat, and the 02 stream is more efficient at blowing slag away.It was a nervous few hours.  I don't do this kind of stuff very often, and certainly not around gas tanks.  It takes extreme care to make sure the torch is pointed in a good direction at all times before, during, and after the cut.  There's a lot of stuff that can be accidentally damaged by the intense heat.  INCLUDING MENo boom, Thank God Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I worked for a company demo a old Alcoa plant down here and thats how I did my cuts...amazing how much just a small amount of steel can hold,and how stuff jumps when the crane pulls it apart
