Here are some beads I did testing amp ratings with 7018.Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Which one do you like better? Methinks 150 wins. I am usually around 140 or so with med dig on my 7018's for general and 130 soft dig for a cap on flat stuff.Which rods?
Reply:Being 1/2" plate, the 150 wins, but if it was 1/4"...... I go as low as 115 vertical up if its thin stuff.Lincoln H4mrsomethingorother. Out of the oven.I find Lincoln needs to be run hotter than any other brand 7018 I have used. Its all that is available around here.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I thought you used Linc's. I prefer McKay's XLM or Hobart 418's myself. I just can't get Excaliber's to run right on my TB at all. Way too runny and just won't be controlled no matter the amps or dig. Total opposite with the Hobarts.I have been using 3/32 7018's around 95 amps on 1/4 verts of late. Very nice beads and easy to controll.
Reply:Dave do you find that the lincoln runs a little hotter than other machines ?
