good tig machine.

im looking into getting a tig for the house..im a beginer welder .im going to school now and ive been working with some nuclear tig welders on a job for the us dept of energy for the lasy few months and they have been letting me do some tig and teaching me some things..i think its time for me to get a rig for my house.i was going to go with an econotig but im considering something a little smaller since ill be carrying the macine from job site to job sitethere is the maxstar 200DX not too expensive and its pulsed tig,,,anyone have this machine or know anyone who has it?i also want to run some stick off this machine also...comments?
Reply:Not a problem running a stinger off a Tig machine at all..Personally I'd get one with watercooled capabilities..Tig torches do get hot.. But if your gonna do it..Then do it right and within reason.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:The Maxstar 200DX is DC only witch may or may not be a problem for you?  If you want a portable AC/DC TIG you will need to step up to the Dynasty 200 SD or Dynasty 200 DX.  As for the Econotig, some like it, some don't... But for the $$ I would recommend stepping up to a Syncrowave 200 for a few hundred more.  But they are NOT portable. They are all excellent units!  Stock they all come with an air cooled torch that will do the job just fine but if you are going to be running long beads water cooled is nice.  I have an air cooled now and someday will get a water cooled Me!

Reply:i got a Lincoln V-205 it has AC/DC tig with pulse or not and runs stick relay niceChuckASME Pressure Vessel welder
Reply:i ended up getting a maxstar 200 i was just messing around with it on a 120 circut...im really impressed that the machine can make 150+ amps from a 120 circut...its amazing...i gotta wire a 240 outlet this weekend..
Reply:Maxstar is an excellent machine did you get the dx? They run smaw real well also.If your going from job site to job site there's really no need for a cooler unless your working in a site shop.Its not much fun carrying a cooler around in the field. Too hard to get a coolmate 3-4 in your pocket
Reply:yes i got the DX,,,nice options..i paid like 3000 out the door with the contractor kit..wich i didnt think was too bad,,im gonna mostly just use it for practice at home..i have a dynasty 350 at work>>
