So I thought , I would build a cheap 6'x12' trailer for myself. I had an axle and about 80 % of the steel. Here's a quick list of what I had to buy.2'' coulper and jack with a wheel $75.002 chain hooks , light kit, paint and hardner $80.003 tires on rims $ 230.002 4x8 sheets of expanded metal and misc steel $ 75.002 50# bags of blast sand $ 20.00 total of $ 480.00WOW you just can't make them for what you can buy them for. I know that but, for some reason I think this will come different everytime. Someday I will learn...NOT.The best part I don't need another trailer. I have 4 and only 1 truck. I should have just bought a trailer for Home depot and sit on my a$$ and drink beer for 40 hours. I would be money aheadDaye Attached Images
Reply:Nice trailer
Reply:You can't buy one for $480 built that stout. That looks really good, however, I would have gone to the tire shop that has 2000 wheels out back and found ones to fit the hubs, bought some good used tires to fit them.I don't think I've ever worn out a set of tires on any tlr. I've owned, they usually die of old age or reach the point I'm afraid to roll them down the road. That would have brought the expense down some. Reply:thats not a cheap trailer its top notch
Reply:Yep, toss in the cost of the axle and steel, plus brakes and battery if your state requires it and it adds up real fast. Add a second axle with tires and brakes and it gets even harder to do it.Looks like a nice unit from what I can see. No build picts though?
Reply:Nice looking trailer. I've looked the TSC and Home Despot trialers over from time to time. Wouldn't take much in materials to double what they put in there.
Reply:Tigmusky, I disagree, you've got a nice looking trailer, one that's much better than the cheapies at TSC and Home Depot, plus you have the satisfaction of when somebody asks you "Nice Trailer, where'd you buy it at" to be able to say you did it yourself.
Reply:Very nice job....
Reply:Nice looking trailer! If you don't mind my asking, did you put the axle dead center of the bed, or is that just the camera angle playing tricks with my eyes?#1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
Reply:At least -your- welds line up onto the metal that they are joining, right? Unlike a whole bunch of what I see whenever I glance at the TSC or HomeDespot trailers. That and your frame looks to be about twice as stout as the TSC/HD/etc trailers. What's the small piece of horizontal pipe on the vertical channel on the front rail for? Reply:Just one truck? You might check the local Brahma Rental Center for some help to pull the extra trailer. "Ride 'em in RawHiiiiiide. HYA!!" Attached ImagesCity of L.A. Reply:Good work. Just curious why you didn't add a rail down the sides. Rails are a cheap way to add strength. I don;t even price trailers anymore when someone calls. Unless it is a custom and built for a specific purpose. The average Joe just doesn't want to pay the price difference for a better built trailer. That's a nice looking trailer for sure.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

I set it up for 3 4-wheelers and empty to be a little heavy on the tounge,so far all is good. Originally Posted by Hammack_WeldingGood work. Just curious why you didn't add a rail down the sides. Reply:That's a nice trailer. Better than the ones you can pick up at HD and TSC.I just have to gig you about the hitch though. I would have spent the extra bucks for a Bulldog.

Reply:Nice looking trailer, mind if I ask what the short pipe nipple is for I see in the first photo it is dead center just behind the tongue of the trailer. Looks like it is centered in the middle of a piece of 3" channel.

Reply:Buying a trailer from Home Depot just ain't as much fun as building it yourself. That's why I build my own anyway. Pretty sweet job.
Reply:Nice trailer. The paint job alone is worth $500.00Good Job.
