One of our granddaughters is a flautist, that's right, a flute player. Made this for her. My wife said I should dress her. Thus the paint...Note the cool hair. Turns out it is almost as hard to blob and porcupine when ya want to as it is to NOT do it when ya don't want to. Used the 40 to cut the base. Structural blobs with the Lincoln stick and hair with the mig. Attached Images(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah: Go Big Red! Reply:Hello strube 1369, Nice job, simple design but instantly recognisable as a flautist, sorry to pour a little rain on your parade but I would prefer it to be all white without the "hair" for a much more classic look. Reply:I know what ya mean. But I got my wife telling me to dress her and I wasn't about to try making clothes out of tin or something so I went with the paint. Reply:*laffs* Those are great!Strube, a suggestion for the hair: Does your daughter have long hair or short hair? What you do is this: get a flat piece of metal, and cut it to fit around the top of the head, letting the rest "dangle" behind the head. Say for long hair, you would cut a curvy wave in a piece of flat sheet, and then trim the top part to match the curve of the head. For a "short" haircut, like a page-boy style, do the same, but cut it straight off about level with the bottom of the head. That way, you don't have to worry about individual hairs - it's a solid sheet.
Reply:Hey, thanks for the hair tips! I'll try to use that info next time!(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah: Go Big Red! (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:For the hair, I would drill some material and use the "strings" left from the drilling to make it. |
