When building a regular trailer, the shackles for the springs mount directly to the underside of the frame but, what about deck over trailers where the wheels set under the trailer deck. I am sure I have seen them a hundred times but I am drawing a blank right now. Am I getting that senile already? Any one have any photo or description? I'll be down at the trailer dealers crawling under their trailers if anyone is looking for me.
Reply:any I have seen and one I built had rectangle tubbing the length and the shackles were attached to that and it went straight to the front angled in same as a reg trailer just the frame is closer together and deck sits atop the structure instead of with in the rails.

Reply:There are many different ways to accomplish this. Depending on tire size and frame rail depth several ways to get clearance for deck over are mounting springs over axle, spring mounts come in different heights, and/or adding subframe.
Reply:usually the spring are mounted below the main rails or along side with spring hangers like a big truck, depends on the type of main rails usually I beam, channel or rect. tube. I will take a picture of mine and post it if I get a chance."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400 |
