so i've heard of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) and Electron Beam Welding (EBW), but what else are out there? i know there has to be new and unique types of welding. anyone have any expereince with any of them? i'm curious to know where the welding industry may be headed.thanks.Later,Andy
Reply:Plasma Arc is becoming increasingly popular in Aerospace.
Reply:Hybrid laser/MIG is one new one.http://www.thefabricator.com/ArcWeld...cle.cfm?ID=777http://news.thomasnet.com/fullstory/493119Here's another one, a Plasma/MIG hybrid.http://www.plasma-laser.com/new/prod...D=1&subCatID=8

Reply:I'm having a cold-wire robotic TIG welder built. Robots are very common with MIG, not so much with cold-wire TIG. It's going to be an 8 axis robot, so it promises to be a handful to program, but it's going to be a kick! Also, doing quite a bit with dissimilar welding using the EB process. I know it's been around for a while, but we seem to keep finding new applications for it.I r 2 a perfessional |
