I just finished this job and thought it might be interesting to see how you all would have bid this and what equipment you would use. Go HERE FOR FILE for bidding prints. I had three days to get my number in and did not get a chance to look over the site.Ceiling line elevation is 10' 4" ant concrete above is at 16" 6"For sake of arguments lets say the hourly is $52.50 workmans comp is $55.00 per hundred. that way we all use the same numbers. My bid included all materials and labor to fabricate and install (no paint) It also included shop drawings. I put in 15 hours for meetings as this general contractor has weekly mandatory job site planning meetings. The job site is 10 minutes from the shop. I was told the room is small it is on the ground floor and all the doorways leading to it are 3'0" or betterAfter a week I'll post my numbers and how I got to them I don't know what the point of this is and I don't know how you all will receive this. I just thought it up and want to have a go. Later all

Reply:Have you looked at your workcomp rate for steel erection over 2 stories? It should be lower. You pay more for the 2 stories or less because everyone with a pickup, ladder and a welder, think they can do the work. This makes the rating fall under "unskilled work". They have a much greater accident rate. Even though you are using skilled ironworkers, you pay more because of them. You could check with your workmans comp carrier and see what your MOD factor is. If it is above 1.0 see what you can do with them to get it down.
Reply:I can't get it either. I don't know anything about google docs, but, my guess is we are not on the list of people that can see it.To make it smaller you have to break it into pieces.Get CutePDF. It is a free download. Install the program. It installs itself as 'printer'.Open your PDF document normally. Then 'print' it. When the printer dialog box comes up select 'CutePDF Writer' as your printer and select the number of pages that you want to print, eg 1-5, and then 6-10 etc. Viola, the PDF is broken up.Last edited by RancherBill; 08-29-2009 at 03:14 PM.
Reply:What are the conditions of work. Do you have unrestricted access or are you working around other trades. Will it be ready to do all at once. How many bidders? Are there 'price sluts' in Alaska?

Reply:$55 on a $100.00 is crazy. I pay $17 on a $100.00 up to 40 ft in colorado.

Reply:Note, my wife is commercial insurance, both liability and workmen's comp. Deals with 50 states. She has huge files, for each of 50 different states. Both computer files, and her own personal files, in paper. The rates for one state, have no correlation to the rates of another state.
