Question about aceytelene cylinder

Hi, i'm in the process of setting up a small OA setup for jewelry making. I've used OA in school before but I've never had to set up my own tanks. I've read thru a bunch of stuff and get what I need to do and what i need to not do but when trying to turn my acetelene cylinder valve (its a 3/4" hexnut) with a wrench there feels like theres incredible amount of pressure on it and that to even open it I'd have to force the wrench, ie. not opening slowly, or at least as slowly as I want to, which doesn't seem like a good idea. I'm also not the strongest person. So heres my question, is there something wrong with the cylinder or is it jsut me ie. having never done this on my own before am i being overly cautious? It's sunday today and my local welding supply place is closed so jsut seeing if anyone out there has any insight. Greatly appreciated. Thanks

Reply:Don't be afraid of tightening it back up like that either......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I hate the little wrenches you need to use with those valves. I picked up a couple of used scuba valve knobs that fit that square pin perfectly. Most dive shops can either order you a new one, or probably have an old valve they can cannibalize to get you one for a couple of bucks. Reply:op, that hex thing tightens thepacking..you should spray it with some soap just to be sure when you got done adjusting it it wasnt leaking acet.and dsw..the good thing about the llittle wrench is you could put it on a key chaiin or in yer pocket.. put that knob in yer pocket and you'll appear to have a badly swollen testicle..
