I just want to get some thoughts on esabs 10p plus and how you feel it stacks up against 5p plus. I know they are both 6010 rods but I want to know if one is better.
Reply:Sometimes things like this are a personal preference and so you need to try them both and then decide.
Reply:LWS was pushing the ESAB and gave me a few sample packs to try. Like Jay O said it is personal preference and I prefered the 5P+. The ESAB just didn't feel right. The ESAB splattered a little more and would have probably ran on fewer amps. I didn't change the welder settings between the two rods and I probably should have.Dan D.
Reply:Being a structural hand, and not running a lot of 6010. The differences I found between 10P-plus and 5-P, and 5P-plus is, a lot less smoke, easier to clean the slag. And the most important thing to me, is how stable the arc is at very low amps. If you don't weld a lot of pipe, you have to run slower, and colder than guys who get a steady diet of pipe. I also found Hobart's PipeLiner 60 is just about the same thing as 10P-Plus.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:When it comes to 7018 all I run is esab rods and love them, but 5p or 5p+ is all I have ever been able to get from my supplier. The last time I went in to get rods I saw they were carrying the 10p but couldn't tell me much about it, I was just wanting to hear some thought on it before I spent some hard earned cash. Thanks for the input I think I'll stick to 5p+.
Reply:I'll try some of the hobart rods if the price is right on them |
