Hi All,We need to join two sheets of the following composition by weldingCu 75%Zn: 20%Ni: 5%Thickness of sheets 3.5mm , The weld joint has to be very high in tensile strength and it should have some flexibility. The weld deposit on the sheets will go through roller presses. Please suggest Arc/ Tig/ Gas welding consumables  / procedures.regardsSanjay
Reply:Most any arc welding process will run the risk of burning the zinc out of the alloy, consider arc brazing, using Silicon bronze filler and TIG or maybe MIG.  You still may not maintain metallurgy requirements
Reply:Silver solder?TIG with copper or bronze filler would do it. The zinc will burn off a bit, but it should be cool enough not to pop. With the burning zinc your weldor will need breathing protection, and good ventilation.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
Reply:That alloy is usually called "nickel silver", and there are brazing rods made of that or similar alloys available. Oxy-acetylene would be the process of choice.MIG with silicon bronze filler will work but the color match will be poor.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
