I remember seeing a tool similar to the trick tools one a whole ago but for tubing. but i just dont remember where... anyone know?If i cant find one, i'll just have to have one machined...Last edited by sen2two; 10-28-2009 at 12:37 AM.Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIGLincoln 110v flux core welder (my 1st)Clarke 180EN MIG
Reply:As long as the stacks are straight, you can just make a cone and press it into the pipe with a shop press. My 20 ton press was able to flare out 2" sch 80 without too much trouble. An exhaust expander would prolly do the trick too. I broke mine.....that's how I found out the press would work too. The wrench operated expanders are junk, don't even bother with them.My name's not Jim....
Reply:so your saying i could just press any cone shaped object and it would form it nicely? i wouldnt need a top and bottom piece to form a nice velocity stack?this is pretty much what im looking to make from a regular strait 1.75" aluminum tube with a 1/16" wall.so maybe i could just buy a 3" thick round bar piece of aluminum, and then just grind it down to this shape? or would a bottom piece be needed to get the nice trumpet form?Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIGLincoln 110v flux core welder (my 1st)Clarke 180EN MIG
Reply:use steel for the die and polish and lube it or you'll get gauges. My name's not Jim....
Reply:so your saying if i use steel as the press piece and lube it when pressing it, what i drew up above will get my the velocity stack pictured above also?sorry for the basic questions, i just dont want to buy the metal and spend hours grinding on it for it not to work, you know?If i knew where to buy this tool, i would just buy it.Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIGLincoln 110v flux core welder (my 1st)Clarke 180EN MIG
