Need recommendations

I need advice on my first welding book.  I am so new I haven't even  burned myself yet.There must be hundreds of books on welding I just dont know which on to get first. A class is coming but not until summer, so?Stick for now but TIG someday.  I need to understand the workings behind the art.Thanks in advance,Jh
Reply:Well this isnt a book but welding tips and tricks on youtube has some really good videos .With great arc shots.
Reply:The arc welding handbook by Lincoln Electric.  My bible.   Last I knew $24.95.Go to the lincoln website and find it.  I may not have the title exact.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:2 Best books are Lincolns "the Procedure Handbook of Arc Welding" 14th edition and the Miller student pack for 25 bucks  each.  The tig book from Miller is also a must have and can be downloaded for free at the Miller site under resources.  Read and understand both of the first books the a lot of focused practice on things like stick out, angle, push versus pull and other techniques and your on your way.  If you don't get the results you need, do not give up, just practice till you do.  Some folks get it pretty quick and others spend a  lifetime perfecting it.  Welcome to welding, and remember it is hot, you will eventually get burned we all did sooner or later.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?
Reply:Go the AWS site and there are thousands of books for all levels. I may also add that by joining your local American Welding Society group will help out with tips and local people to lend a helping hand.A young green pipe welder asked an old salt one day...How can I make the weld on the bottom of the pipe look like the top.......The old salt replied....Screw up the top......
