i tried to weld some beads on 1/16''. i know part of the problem is the 3/32'' rod i am using with a 1/16'' tungsten. the heat was set at 61 amps. the aluminum is pretty clean to start with, so a scrub from the stainless steel brush and a wipe with some acetone. sorry for the bad pics of the corner joint. i had to shoot it without the flash, or the pics was nothing but a blur. i am using the thermal arc 185.
Reply:It looks like you just need more practice.Me!
Reply:Other than some practice, I see no problem. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:more practice, more practice. that i can do. thanks.
Reply:Try pulsing this way you can mash the pedal to the floor and concentrate on what your hand is doing. Start out with a slow pulsing and take your time.
Reply:Get some filler that is the same thickness as the base metal or one size smaller. This will help keep the heat or amps down. looks too hot to me when you melt through when just welding a stringer bead on the base metal. Looks like you have a steady hand and pretty straight your on the right track. Practice will always help. |
