Hi !!!!!I just bought a Farmhand 115v Mig/flux welder. After some practice with the flux core wire to get used to welding again, i want to switch over to MIG. What kind of gas should i use ??? I was thinking of using 75/25(argon/co2). Mostly mild steel for now, now aluminum welding just yet ...thanks for your help !!!
Reply:C/25 works nice, Co2 will also work. David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:thanks David .
Reply:C-25 and DCEP polarity, and CO2 as david said is OK.SMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:Thanks !!!!Just to clarify, c-25 is 75/25 argon mix????Sorry, but i am just learning .....Thanks for being patient !!!!!!!
Reply:If you are just learning and playing around, I would use CO2 over C25. CO2 is cheaper and the bottle last longer as CO2 compresses to a liquide were Argon mixes don't. CO2 does have more splatter and a little different to run over C25 but will do the same job no problem.I have run CO2 for over ten years. Done everything form autobody panels to heavyer material. I tried C25 a couple time but couldn't get over how fast the bottle emptied compared to CO2.C25 = 75% Argon and 25% CO2Just thought I would throw this is for you to think about.Have fun and you will love gas over fluxcore.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.

Reply:AWESOME !!!!!Thanks for the advise !!!!!!!I'm gunna go pick up a tank of co2 this weekend !!
Reply:If you have your flow meter set right that bottle of c-25 should last considerably longer than the same size cylinder of co2. CO2 requires a much higher flow rate than ar-co2 mix. I've used both over the years in different shops, but c-25 is all I use in my shop. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist. |
