This is a gate I built for a friend of mine who owns a transmission shop here. Before (I had removed an old welded pipe fence and reused the posts. This is the drawing I did by hand before I had autocad. This is the finished product. The gate has a set of operators on it, and the star in the center only attaches to the left gate, but I was able to make it all fit where it has a perfect 2" gap between the gates and around the star. All of the box tubing on the gate is .120 wall, and the star is .120 plate, 22" in diameter, and 3" deep. When finished I could stand on the end of the gate (I weigh 275 lbs) and I could swing the whole motion of the gate with zero deflection and it was very very smooth with the brass lined greaseable hinges I built. Over all I am pretty happy with the result. In about 2 weeks I am going to be building another gate for my shop it will be a 20x6' swing gate eventually it will be powered by a Chamberlin elite 1hp opperator.I will post a thread on it as soon as I get started.
Reply:That's really nice. Very impressive with the clean reveal and line up of the circles around the star.

Reply:Thanks Guys. To Add I welded the whole thing with 3/32 5P red rod, I didnt have my MIG then, it would have been alot easier if I did.
Reply:Man, that looks really nice. Great job!Miller Millermatic 212... and that's about it... for now...
Reply:Here is a rendering of the next gate I am building, I am debating making it a side slider as is depicted here. The frame is 2" box tubing, the mesh is #13 flat expanded metal. The center is actually a light box, I am going to use big truck 2" round LED's to light the lettering from behind.
Reply:How do you handle rusting? Is it sandblasted, painted & dried hot? Or what?...Especially on expanded metal, would not rusting be a problem?...Great job BTW... Makes real difference how the property looks like....
