shock from tabletop possible?

I "ve been assuming that a metal table top with a ground clamp attached can shock you when you're welding, is this true?
Reply:yes I have been zapped when tigging and had short sleeve shirt on and i hear it will happen if you have been sweating also.

Reply:It depends on the machine and some times the wiring in the building.Generally no, but wet gloves changing electrodes can do it,  Changing the tungsten with your foot on the pedal is a big one.   Standing in water changing electrodes is not a good thing either.  All are worse using AC of course.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:If I'm tig welding on AC and get my arm (above my glove and below my jacket) on the table I have been shocked when I strike an arc. Reply:ive taken a zap from stick welding while sweaty, I was proping to stable my electrode and apparently I had a lil too much condensation.
Reply:I've taken an hf zap on the back of the head while manuvering the tig torch/ cable over my shoulders and accidentally stomping the pedal... Hair don't grow back there no more. And worst part, the old lady witnesed the whole mishap...
