I'm gonna be a newbie to welding soon. I'm looking for a affordable welder for auto body restoration. I was thinking on the Hobart 140. What welder is recommended for auto body repair on 67 F100?
Reply:the 140 would work . bottle of mix and .023 wire and your good to go. don't try to weld to long of bead or you will warp the heck out of the panel. stitch weld it 1" bead on one side and jump to the other to control heat till the panel is fully welded.225NT bobcatAEAD200LEScott 125mm175, mm252 w 30A, PT225mm211, TA 181iHyper Therm 380, cut master 529100X & XX, Digital Elite6 Victor setssmith little torch, meco midget kalamazoo band sawsteel max saw evoulution circular saw

Northern tool still has the HH187 for about what that HH140 will run you and it is a lot more machine because it runs on 230v power..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thanks DSW, I have 110 outlet in my garage just power tools thats on it own breaker. I'll have to see about the HH187. I dont have 220/240 outlets now but plan adding for future purchase on a 60 gallon ingersol air compressor. I would just use the welder for automotive repairs and auto body repairs. If not I'll have to settle for the HH140 and upgrade to the HH210MVP later on. |
