I am making a headache rack for my truck and plan to have it sprayed with linex. My question is should I have it sandblasted and painted before I have it linex sprayed? Thanks
Reply:I would call the place going to shoot the linex, and see what they have to say about it..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:So I called them today and they wanted the headache rack unpainted and rust free. If it was painted they would have to scuff it up to have the Linex stick.

Reply:sandblasted, then sanded, then wash primed or equivalent, the wash primer provides the adhesion and rust prohibition, they don't care about it four years down the road, if you have pay a few dollars extra to have them scuff it, so what, but I cannot see linex needing a having trouble with adhesion on a wash primed surface, kinda like the discussion we had about powder coating(whether to or not) awhile back.Last edited by pistolnoon; 01-10-2012 at 12:08 AM.
Reply:as long as it's bare with no rust there won't be no problem with the Linex adhering. i had my pickup bed shot 6 years ago and it is still like the day they shot it and i'm not easy on it. looking back at my first wife it might not have been a bad idea to get her shot with Linex. she got a whole lot uglier and worn out in the same time frame not to mention hell by comparison my Ford would have grown to be a Kenworth. 225NT bobcatAEAD200LEScott 125mm175, mm252 w 30A, PT225mm211, TA 181iHyper Therm 380, cut master 529100X & XX, Digital Elite6 Victor setssmith little torch, meco midget kalamazoo band sawsteel max saw evoulution circular saw |
