Welding traning

Hi everyone. Im a diesel mechanic and i mostly work on construction machinery and dump trucks, so every now and then there is always something that needs to be welded.I would really like to take some kind off course to improve my skills, like the 15 week ones offered by lincoln. Does anyone know if there is something similar to the lincoln course offered in or near washington state?
Reply:Near me a lot of the high school votech centers run night classes in welding. Some Community Colleges also run programs at night. Then there's the training schools where you can go days and learn the skills full time.Votech schools are usually stupid cheap when you look at what you get. Usually they try just to break even on the classes and often the programs are partially sponsored by other companies or the state to help keep costs down. Community colleges  are probably 2nd in cost. Most training schools are run for profit. You often get a better education because it's geared more towards people going straight out and getting work plus they have more hours to work with, but the costs are higher per hour when you break it down.If all you want to do is brush up on skills, I'd suggest the Tech school or CC night class. It will probably allow you to work your normal job and still get decent training. Some employers will also help with costs if you can prove you are improving your value to them. We have several students at the tech school who are going thru the class because work is covering the costs if they pass..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:thanks for your reply.I have looked in to this a little, but cant find to much info on there classes online, and since i am out of the country for a while thats really the only way i can research it.
Reply:I thought we were talking about weld tanning.....like that spot on my stomach I got after welding with a big hole in my shirt.I went through a semi local CC that held a MIG class at the more local Voc center.
