Howdy, all.I just got myself a Miller Syncrowave200 runner.I'm running straight Argon.1/16" 2% Thoriated tungsten, 1/16" ER70S2 fillerI was practicing running some short beads on 16ga. mild steel scrap.  These pieces were sheared off of a larger piece that had been flap-wheel ground.  I then wiped down the steel prior to welding.  Fit of the pieces was pretty good, although one sheet had a slight warp to it.  Here are a couple of autogenous welds.I experimented by going with the smallest amount of heat on the first section, and spun the piece around and went a little larger on the second section (these beads came from opposite directions; I push left to right since I'm left handed). And here are a couple with filler.  I wandered off-track on the first one.I still wandered a little on that second one.  I need to get a new screen for my helmet . . . the one that's on there is scratched and cloudy.Up to this point, my only TIG experience was at a weekend workshop.I was so impressed with the quality on thin sheet compared to MIG . . . I had to get one.So . . . any feedback?  Am I doing alright?  Any suggestions?
Reply:Looks prety good for starting out. Lot better than my first couple of tries. Keep at it, as every one will agree practice, practice, practice...
Reply:Great start! Clean the metal better before starting..(Shiney is good)...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Those are nice welds for the first time.  Heat is about right, speed is good.  Keep at it.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Thanks for the feedback, y'all. In the future, I'll primarily be working with Cor-ten.After it's delivered, what should I do to clean it up?It's funny.  In the past, freshly purchased steel was as clean as it ever got!!!And for the cor-ten, I should be using ER80SD-2 filler, right? (I'm still really awkward with the filler hand, btw)With autogenous welds, what should I do to get the best results?  Good fit, clean metal.  What else will ensure a quality autogenous weld?
