I am using a miller 350 mpa welder with a s74 mpa feeder and would like to know what you guys think is the best wire and gas to use with this setup to rebuild mid size excavator buckets. i will be welding regular steel as well as some AR / T1 plate.i am new to this machine and really dont have any idea. before this i was stick welding everything.
Reply:On bucket rebuilds I run Hobart Formula XL-8Ni1.....045....C25 gasexcellent out of position wire
Reply:Pretty much any dual shield .045 will be fine.thermal arc mst400, va4000 feeder, lincoln 175 min, victor torches, miller s32p feeder, air arc k4000 for work.
Reply:I use heaps of ESAB 7100 Ultra-.045 and use mostly 80 AR 20 CO2 gas, but sometimes 100% CO26 Miller Big Blue 600 Air Paks2 Miller 400D6 Lincoln LN-25's4 Miller Xtreme 12VS2 Miller Dimension 812 4 Climax BW-3000Z bore welders Hypertherm 65 and 85Bug-O Track BugPair of Welpers

Reply:any dual shield flux core. i run straight co2. but for aything that is going to see high amounts of stress, i would still stick it. but thats me.....
Reply:Id rather stick-it myself, but economics dictate fluxcore. Working in the mining industry, dualshield was the go to consumable. You can really get allot welded deep & pretty with that stuff in a hurry.

Reply:id use a 65 or 70 tensile flux core then ..... you can run a mix but straight co2 is cheaper
Reply:We use 1/16 esab metal core wire where I work with 90/10 argon/co2 gas to build excavator buckets.. |
