Here is my new welding cart that I built about 2.5 years ago.  I kept meaning to get pictures of it and post it up but never got around to it till now.  After 2.5 years I still havent finished the drawer due to no material to finish it with.  Over all shotsDrawer with 22" full extension slides.  Still need some sheet metal for the front, back and bottom, so I can use the drawer.Welded on a ratchet strap and loop to hold my bottle securely.  You can see in the pic i installed a set out outlets behind the bottle.  On the left side is another one with a small extension cord out the bottom, all I have to do is plug in an extension cord and I have outlets on my cart.Used 350 lbs steel casters up front, and some 300 lbs pneumatic tires in the rear.  Rolls very easily over the garage, trash, the yard.  Attached ImagesLast edited by PoisonPancakes; 12-12-2009 at 12:13 AM.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. Reply:I needed a cool spot to keep my bottle wrench handy.  Here you can see where I can plug in my outlets.I built a few accessories to add to the cart.  This is an extra worktop I can put on either side of the cart, and it gives me a good place to clamp material down that I am working on.  The hooks for the cables also purpose for a place to attach my accessories. Reply:Nice cart
Reply:Nicely made cart.Do you find that the Hobart gun liner/cable is pretty stiff?I have an older Hobart 135, and the liner is really stiff and cheesy.  Been working in 30 degree temps, and it's like iron."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Cool.  I like it.  The electrical outlet idea is a good one.  The little removeable shelf looks handy too. Most metal supply yards sell sheet metal.  Get that drawer done!  MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:I know I can buy sheet metal, but I built this out of stuff I had laying around.  I haven't done any projects lately that required I bought any sheet metal.  All in all the cart cost me about $20.  I had to buy the pneumatic tires, and paint.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. Reply:Well thought out, actually.
Reply:But, but, but ...There's PLYWOOD on a welding cart! What do all the labels say on that AD helmet?  And just -why- do you have a whole bunch of labels on the AD helmet?  The cart 'works' for you.    The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:I like the ratchet strap idea!  More snug than chain, won't rot/fray like a bungee cord!
Reply:Many shops will gladly give you (or sell real cheap) enough scrap to finish that drawer. If you go to the User CP at the top of the page and add your location, one of us might be close enough (maybe even me) to give you what you need. I frequently have 16ga and 1/8" scraps and would be happy to give you enough to finish that project if your timing is right (when I have it).CharleyMiller MM252Miller Bobcat 225NTMiller DialArc HF / DIY Cooler2 Victor O/A TorchsetsMilwaukee 8" Metal SawMilwaukee Dry Cut "Chop" Saw 5 Ton Wallace Gantry Various Grinders, Benders, etc.
Reply:The label at the top of my AD hood says "If you can read this do not disturb, UNLESS I'M ON FIRE AGAIN" and the other ones say PoisonPancakesOnly two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Reply:OK I found some sheet metal from some old stuff we were throwing out, so I decided to finish up my drawer.  Bent it up, screwed it on, painted it, then filled it. Reply:The beginings stages of a welding cart that will hold a TA185 tig and Clark 185 SG spool gun.Scrap iron left over, including bed frame "LOL". Sunday afternoon project.Rear tires $6.99 each, front locking casters $2.99 each.scrap metal $0I'm shooting from the hip on this one.I think I will add the rachet strap to secure my bottle as I finish the cart..I'll have space for consumables. I will also weld on attachments to hold all leads, torch and spool gun. and tools. I believe I will incorporate a tee connection with 2 valves coming from my regulator to switch gas from one welder to the other. No drawers. I will add ons as I see fit. Some rust inhibitor, primer and red paint to match my tool chest. Attached ImagesLast edited by cmartman46; 12-20-2009 at 08:40 PM.THE OLDER I GET! Reply:Nice Cart!... I really like the removable tray idea best of all. Anyone with a cart could add that feature and I've never seen such an attachment on any other cart--- GREAT ideaBTW.... an old metal desk drawer is easy to adapt to such a use as that ...and easy to come by as well.
Reply:that drawer is practically empty.  fill that drawer up with a few 4" rolls of filler wire, scatter some mig tips in there, several more gloves (only left hand, no right), some screw drivers, various/random size ratchet sockets, and ratchet that wont fit any of the sockets... then it will look like a proper drawer, like the my tool box. j/kgreat idea on the drawer!

Reply:I like the machine on the bottom to keep the center of gravity low, never have to worry about tipping it over.  I keep may machine clean, blow out any crap that gets in there with my compressor, and the side door fully opens making wire changes easy.   Also with the machine on the bottom I can use to top of  my cart for other tools and misc items i might need.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. Reply:also, if you have the welder on top, when you're welding on a bench, there's a dip in the torch lead.  if you have the welder on the bottom, the lead just goes down a little bit, and comes up to your hand.
