Here are a few repairs I did, or started this week...Sakai roller with hood damage. I cut the entire section out and fabbed new from a sheet of 16 ga. Cut out pockets and fabbed new light box by hand. Had a  bucket returned off of rent missing the main pin, probably because it fell out for some reason and bent one of the ears. Also started a pin repair at the dump bed pivot on a off road dump truck.. i'll post pics when i finish next week. Attached Images

Reply:Good job. Its nice to see that theirs still people who take pride in their work. I did a repair on a utility trailer that has square tubing cross members across the top rail and to my surprise there was little blobs of weld (bubble gum) and tried to cover it with J B WELD. Owner said he'll never bring him anything again. Sorry about the rant. Did you preheat or just weld it. Looks like flux core and when you took off the angle brace, did the padeye pull.
Reply:I like your heavy equipment work.  I would love to spend a week in your shop learning that stuff.Did you use dual shield on the bucket?Miller 185Lincoln Weldanpower 225Lincoln 225 buzz boxCheap-o C&H 110v (my first welder)
Reply:Thanks Cajun welder and 7bics. I always throw a little preheat on any mtl over 3/4" thick and use Lincoln 71-m fluxcore with dual shield. I over straighten the ear somewhere from 1/8 - 1/4" and when the brace is removed its usually spot on. If the ear has a twist in it as well, I usually Linebore the holes after straightening the ears.
Reply:Nice repairs as always.Great fab on the roller hood.

Reply:Not sure if you're interested but for repairs like the bucket,we usually use run on and run off plates at the ends of the crack as it eliminates cold starts and craters. We then just gouge them off once fully welded.Nice welds.
Reply:Thanks on-site86 and DanielwI have a KIT set-up Climax B5500 for a 2 1/4" bar. Three bars- 6',9' and a 4' also have adapters for 1 3/4" bars and have a 6' and 9' very nice machine.Danielw, if you could post some pics...the proccess definately makes sense, though I havent had any issues in the past. I usually weld a layer in one direction, then the next layer in the opposite so both ends get heat..
