Rock rails

DWR,You make rock rails... great! Right now I have to many projects going on. I'm going to tackle my own rock raills. My truck came with rock rails. Except I can't use them as a step, there tucked under to far. Brackets are already on truck. What wall thickness is good for tube? What should I get to bend tubbing.Truck weight 7k lbs. SUV type body. I see them for about $1600 a set. I see 1/4 inch flat plate rails and round tub rails. Don't know which to build.
