I was thinking of building some outdoor storage lockers, kind of like the Rubbermaid ones only steel. They'd have to be weatherproof and lockable. I need them to store all my electrical supplies in for my business, to free up my shop for welding. Has anyone here made any?I don't want a shed, stuff just gets buried plus a lot of the floor space gets wasted because you have to leave it open to get to everything. My lockers would be 3 feet deep. 6 feet high and varying widths from 4 feet to six feet, for a total of 20 feet. I thought I'd use 1x1 angle and maybe 14 gauge for the walls and doors. Then for the roofs I'd use corrugated galvanized roofing.Maybe I could use galvanized for the sheet metal too, but then I'd have to use screws instead of welds to hold the sheets in place, wouldn't I?
Reply:Sounds like a interesting project, you wouldn't have to use screws if you didn't want to. Just be very careful of inhaling the fumes that are produced when welding galvanized. You can get very sick from it.Nick
Reply:But wouldn't the heat from welding remove the galvanazation at the weld points and defeat my purpose for using galv in the first place?
