I have this old school Bmx frame I acquired from a friend for nothing, someone be for him took a grinder to it, for what reason? who knows, This frame is well sought after for the bmx collectors. Me being one of them. This is just one of the many times I'm glad I know how to weld.I think the frame came out great, once I have it painted by my buddy HotRod69 you will never know it was fixed. Reply:I'll be 38 in a few days and I still have my BOSS with S&M bars  that I built many years ago. I actually rode a tiny little bit this summer.

Reply:Nice job on the repair.   Looks like the grinding may have been done to clear an oddball brake caliper the person wanted to install on it.  I don't know much about S&M bikes, but it looks like the frame is from the late 80's to mid 90's, going by the u-brake mounts. In the early 80's I built a '76 Cook Bros that I got as a basket case that neighbor had bought new in California.  Sadly, the bike was stolen around '89. It was my pride and joy when I was in school.   About 5 years ago, I found a '78 Cook Bros frame and fork and decided build to resemble my old '76.   It was a great time remembering all the fun I had on my original one.  I scoured the net for NOS and used parts in good condition from the late 70's and early 80's and tried to use as many of the same brand/model parts I'd had on my original bike.  It took about a year to track everything down and put it together.  I still enjoy remembering the old days whenever I spend some time with it.   While I was building the 'new' Cook, I decided to build an '82 Diamondback Viper, with mostly original parts from the 80's, for my ex's son.  The bike came out great and he was so happy with it.  Unfortunately, it was stolen and he only got to enjoy it for about 6 months but he still talks about that bike even though it's been gone for a few years now.Last edited by DesertRider33; 01-12-2010 at 05:12 PM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
