Hornell Speedglas ?

I have an older speedglas. I got it from my cousin about 5+ years ago, and its not working properly. It only has and "on" button, Its not a 3m, it says Made in Sweden by Hornell Elektrooptik AB. When i push the on button it just flashes and goes dark, but when you weld its not dark enough. its says shade 3/11. I put new batterys in and still the same thing. Id like to find some info on it and get it fixed but can seem to find anything on the web. Any help would be great!
Reply:When it's flashing is when you adjust the settings by pushing the small buttons such as shade,interval,etc..It will stop flashing when you are done setting it.
Reply:There are no other buttons to push. Just the on button.
Reply:Pictures please.  I have a 9000X Hornell Speedglas and a 9002X 3M Speedglas that are both older than that and they both still work like  brand new.Batteries are a good start. Clean outer lenses and clean sensors on the ADF Cartridge are a must too.Later,Jason
Reply:I dont know how old. Its before 3M..at least theres no 3M markings on it. Ill see if i can get pics tomarrow..

You can add your location to the upper right of each post by clicking on the "USER CP" tab in the upper right and entering information where appropriate.Here's the Hornall homepage; open that site, click on the correct area, and contact the company if nothing else works. Reply:If it says shade 3/11, then it's a fixed shade lens.  One of their less expensive models, it wouldn't have any other buttons.  Press the on button to turn on.  Press and hold it a couple of seconds to turn off (or it will auto shutdown in about half an hour).Is it switching from light to dark correctly when you weld?  Are your new batteries good?Is shade 11 dark enough for what you're doing?  The optics in the Speedglas are very good, and things appear lighter in it to me than they do in fixed shade plastic lenses at the same shade.  Maybe you could wear sunglasses underneath the hood.
