i picked this up for 100.00! had new ends, no cables or ground clamp, but i got some #2 locomotive cable for nothing from work. i want to learn to tig with this thing, and am wondering what would suffice. I dont want to spend a ton, what do you think i may be looking at to get set up?? I see torches are'nt that bad, pedals seem pricey, but no idea if they make cheaper ones, or if only miller stuff is compatible! what size tank, and flow valve? do i need?? there is no gas provisions on the machine itself! again i am just gonna be learning with this unit, and maybe tackling some dirtbike and atv little projects if i can get it down! any help would be appreciated. I am pretty new to welding, i have used a lincoln 135 with flux core for a few yrs here and there, and just recently made a shop press with a 225 tombstone arc. i have read and watched nearly everything on weldingtipsandtricks.com over the last 3 weeks lol!! that is the extent of my welding expierience!! thanks

Reply:that's cool as hell, good find!I'd say go to your local independent LWS and see if they'd make you a package deal on a small argon bottle, regulator and tig torch with consumables and filler wire.Actually, I'd say "you'll never get tig welding, sell it to me" LOL.Lincoln SA 200Esab Caddy 160Thermal Arc 201TSMiller Dialarc HFI don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom....
Reply:thanks guys!! i have been watching some pedals on ebay, i think with a little dilligence i can score one for 125-150! Still have to locate a bottle!! Just got a nice ground clamp, so i plan to try the arc process out this weekend! |
