Ok I made my decision on a Lincoln 350MP for a stick/mig machine.I need a little education on Mig wire. What im doing ranges from 1/8-3/8 mild steel. every once in a while i might weld a little 14ga. or 1/2 plate. I will do the best I can to prep my welds but sometimes i will have to weld on some stuff that is a little rusty. This might not make a difference on your input i just thought i'd throw that in there. Also Im used to welding with 6010 and 7018 so anything with a strength around that area is fine.On my limited knowledge I've heard lincoln L-50 is good.Probably be running argon co2 mix, i guess 75-25 is normal...

Reply:Broccoli1Thanks for the site, I had already seen that. But it doesn't really help me all that much, I was more or less just looking for some personal experience, with what im doing.
Reply:if your just starting out wanting to learn about GMAW try these two. i would suggest running hard wire for your thinner applications. Any er70s-6 name brand wire. 100% co2 this is the cheapest gas. no need to worry about transfer mode at this point if you go with the two different processes.second give metal core a try (e70c-6m h4) using 75%ar 25%co2. it works very well when not working on the cleanest metal. this is for your thicker applications and can deposit like flux core without the issues of slag.
Reply:L50 is classified as ER 70-3 and is ok for most structural, Pipe ER 70S-2. I don't think Lincoln makes a S2 wire, or they did not use to. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. : |
