Reply:Samm,I didn't know you had lost him, but I kinda figured it.We all seemed to chip in and gave him a voice in that other thread. Hope you caught em all, cuz some were pretty funny. I live in an area that doesn't provide for many people I want to know, so I really enjoy coming to this site and chatting with you guys.  Brink is right, the dog was part of the community just as much as you have been, as far as I am concerned. I imagine we can all look forward to the day when you have finished grieving and take on a new puppy and learn him the ways of the welding farmer, complete with pictures.Chin up bro, all dogs go to heaven. Reply:Sorry to hear that Samm. I also thought that might have been the case. I don't care what some people think, pets are family too. You can miss them as much as you would a close friend or family member, especially if they are with you all the time. Reply:Sorry to hear of your loss, Samm. We've lost dogs to age or disease over the yrs and it just never gets any easier. Almost like losing a child. The one we have at present is 11 now and when she's gone, I'll give serious thought to whether or not to get another. They're a wonderful companion, but it would just be another problem for the kids to deal with down the road. But on the other hand, it would be a good companion for the one left behind. Ah, enough of these thoughts!!! Samm, after time I'm sure you'll want another w/ you being single. They're good to talk to 'cause they never talk back.                              MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:Hey Samm,I also want to extend my sorrow for your loss of the best friend a person can have. I lost my little buddy a couple years ago(my 2nd Yorkie) & took a month to get over him & get another. I did & everything is good again. Max is my 3rd & most of the time I'd rather be with him than most people anymore. Don't wait too long.....get another....you'll feel better. Reply:Farmersamm,  I'm still relatively new to the forum, but I want to add my condolences to the long list already posted.  I have enjoyed all your posts, but especially the ones including Pup.  We lost our Cocker a couple years ago, and I was just about over the loss.  Your last post brought it all back.  I know how badly you will miss him.  Hope you get another one soon.Nctox,  Stickmate LX  235AC/160DC  HH210

Reply:Sam,My condolences on the lose of your pup.  I know how that feels.  On a brighter note, the lunch at Furrs is making my mouth water.  I don't get too much real food around here as my wife is into plain fish, pasta and salads (chick food)...I even get yelled at when I bring home whole milk!  There used to be a Furrs here in Houston but they're gone now.  I may have to sneak over to Victoria and get some chicken fried. Also, we do have a Wholesale Tool in Houston...I didn't know about it until this week.  I dropped by yesterday to pick up some flap wheels and it was a major disappointment...really trashy, dirty and mostly empty shelves.  The machine tools on the floor were a covered in grime and most of the handles didn't work.  Your's looks about 1000% nicer. Reply:threw the years I have had to put down 4 dogs that lived a full life due to illness, the hardest part was accepting it was the right thing todo so the dogs did not suffer longer, each time I then took a ride to the pound to find a new family member and to give an unwanted friend a new lease on life..RIP..Max, Lady, Glory and Duke..Last edited by roadkillbobb; 07-31-2012 at 03:38 PM.

Reply:Sam,Judy and I extend our condolences and feared this is the news we would hear.  We too know how hard it is to lose such a dear 'family member' and although he wasn't a dog, Conway Kitty's parting was still tough to deal with after 14 years.Clarence will indeed be missed by all and I for one wouldn't consider him an "old fool".MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Sam I would also like to add my condolences to the list.  We lost our 6 yo husky to an inoperable tumor two weeks before Christmas.  You get as attached to them as to any other family member. I was afraid that was where you posts over the last few days were leading. Clarence sounds like a true friend. I am sure he would want you to get another pup to carry on for him. Thats what we did, and it does help. but we still miss Chinook ..-- fredLincoln 180C MIG
Reply:Sam:Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my best friend a few years ago on my birthday. Brittney was a 130 pound DobiShep mix that was my son's adoptive mother. He was her pup and you never raised your voice to him with her around.... She was a great dog. I now have been adopted by a beagle/terrier mix stray and she is a hand full. Cherish the memories of the friends passed, I do every day.G.

Reply:Sam .... nothing I can say that hasn't been already said by the other guys.  We're all with you on this one, amigo ...... hang in there. My g/f had to put her cat down last August (right around her birthday, what a wonderful present - NOT) when we discovered she was a "cancer kitty."  Poor thing was partially deaf from a mild stroke, and had already lost her tail due to the Big C, just seemed to be in pain most of the time .... It was the hardest thing my g/f ever did, since she'd raised her from a tiny kitten (cat was a rescue, abandoned).  Like Clarence, she had that cat thirteen years, and that litttle furball hated me every single hour of every day for the last eight years.  I actually miss having her hissing at me ..... o O (Y'know, here I am right now sitting at the keyboard, knowing exactly how you feel and actually crying for your loss, because I know what you're going through ... and I'm not kidding, either.  Hang on, I can't see the screen anymore ....)Sam .......... somewhere out there, maybe there's a rescue pup looking for a home.  I know he'll never replace your good ol' buddy, but maybe that side of the truck seat won't seem so lonely anymore.Last edited by SpyGuy; 02-17-2010 at 11:25 PM.
Reply:Gotta be careful gettin' a new one though...Wife always wanted a chocolate lab... wanted to name it MochaSo... I took a ride to a farm that had some for sale. Last one of the litter. Poor little thing had a hurt paw from being stepped on.I gave the girl $50.00 and took it home.If I went out back and chiseled through the snow, and dug a hole 3' deep in the yard, and screened the dirt to get the rocks out, and put those rocks into a cardboard box, that box of rocks would be smarter than this dog.I don't like her.My baby girl, ( the one in my avatar ) named her "Rainbow", cause rainbows make her smileShe's my charge now... Would have done it different if I'd known better.Just be careful Samm. Not all dogs are created equal.I know, I've had some damn good dogs.Last edited by daddy; 02-17-2010 at 11:38 PM.Reason: stupid dogs
