I was in the local Air Gas store last week and I noticed that they were selling their 80cf tanks for $177.95 and 1/2 off the cost of gas for the first fill.  Sitting next to it was a 125cf tank for $189.95 and the same deal for the fill. This sounds like a pretty high price for the 80cf tank but is it typical for such a low price difference bwtween the two sizes?   Obviously the larger tank is the better deal in terms of capacity, but for my needs, the 80cf tank would be enough for me for months.and months.Comments??
Reply:when you buy a tank, you are mostly paying for the steel.(the tank) there is little cost difference to fill an 80cf vs a 125. you actully come out cheaper buying a bigger tank. when i bought my 3200hd i bought the biggest tank i could.air gas out here is a rip off. the wanted 120 dollars to fill my tank with 75/25Millermatic 211weldpack 3200 squirtgunsquare wave 200victory journeyman kitHypertherm 30xptoo much other crap to listtinkerer extraordinaire
Reply:Just bought one day before yesterday at my airgas guy. C25...80CFH.-168.00 for the bottle-    3.90 hazmat fee ?-  13.75 tax - "free gas"  ?Total  185.65The reason I buy 80's is I have a bad back and I can lift em' into the back of my pickup...barely.
Reply:I upgraded my 140 cf oxy bottles to 240s for 25 bucks each. It costs 2 bucks more for a refill on the big ones. Pretty good price savings over time. The same applies for c25 and acetylene. The bigger the tank the cheaper the gas per cubic foot. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
