Hi there guys, supposedly I have just passed a shed 80 6g 6" pipe test.I say supposedly because I don't have the x rays?  Talking to a friend of mine who has vast experience as a pipe welder, a pipe code without a x ray that correspondsis ulmost worthless  I'm not even sure if my pipe was x rayed.I don't have any evidence that it was.I am trying to get some answers as yet I have none.It does say on my 3 pipe codes that they were x rayed but I dont have any x rays. 15 of us did this coarse and no one has a x ray.I 'm now thinking that it was only a visual test, although it clearly states that they were x rayed help.
Reply:Okay, let's dig into this. You took a course that did some inspection on your welds.Your documentation says xray was done? Where? Do you have the address and phone #?I may be mistaken, but I believe that the testing house is only obligated to hold onto the films for 6 months before round filing them. If your school agrees, you could ask for them.Or your assumptions may be correct. No radiographs were done. And just because you have school documentation, it does not mean they would be transferable.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:The xray films should be your's. Mine came with my written results. Not sure how useful the actual films would be to you though. In my case, I was disappointed. I'd hoped to include sections as pictures embedded in my resume and actually post mine here but they don't scan (!) and are really really dark negatives. Whenever I get around to building a light box for my camera, I hope to use its sensitivity to capture a jpeg from a long exposure. Then maybe I'll post them then.Good luckLast edited by wirehead; 03-09-2012 at 07:18 PM.XMT304 (school)SP125+ (home)HF 4x6 BandsawGood judgement comes from experience and much of that comes from bad judgement.
Reply:I dont know why you would need them. If you have your certification, thats all you need. You will test at every job anyway. I have plenty of pipe certs and have never seen one of my films.UA Local 598

Reply:You might have cut coupons and did bend tests for the 6G??  Most local schools use bend tests done in front of an ASME inspector.
