Finally dried out enough to drop the new thingy in the manure.I would say it was a mixed success, but not a total success,or a semi failure. Depends on whether you're a half full, or half empty, kind of person.Blade worked fine in fully decomposed manure/hay mix, but wouldn't penetrate a mix with more, less decomposed, hay in it.Was originally thinking in terms of a rake, and got fancy. Apparently you can't have the best of two worldsMoldboard gets cut out when I have the time. Then I'll see how the original tines work in the ground. Then modify from there.I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be winding up attaching more tines, but maybe not, have to see how it handles. It was disappointing, but not the end of the worldOn the plus side, the entire assembly didn't rip off the tractor like some folks predictedBack to the drawing board I guess You don't even wanna know what it smelled like when I broke throught the top crust, and got into the goodies Ahhhh Manure.......................It smells like.............MANUREIT'S NOT CRAP, IT'S FULLY CURED, ORGANIC, TREE FRIENDLY, SPOTTED OWL SENSITIVE, POTTING SOIL!! Reply:"IT'S NOT CRAP, IT'S FULLY CURED, ORGANIC, TREE FRIENDLY, SPOTTED OWL SENSITIVE, POTTING SOIL!!"you forgot methane reduced, naturally desicated, free flowing, moisture retaining, 100% US made and probably at least half a dozen other sales friendly words.Just a suggestion,When yo bag this sh!t up for sale, use pressure sensitive labels, no the ones you have to lick.
Reply:Now that's just kinda nasty.I feel like I need a shower just looking at that.P.S. Nice poop scraper.
Reply:Samm, just take off the bottom section of the flat stock. Leave on the flat stock above the first weld on the tines. That will allow the tines to dig into the semi-rotted stuff, but still pull out most of the upper crust. We used a small "bucket" on the old loader where the tines extended about 8" in front of the bucket. Sounds like you have too much moldboard & not enough digging. Might even take about half of the bottom section out & test it to see if it works better.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build

Reply:I use this to scope the manure out of our low open barns. The tractor is too tall to go in and scoop the manure out. I have to reach in with the excavator with the arm very low and then back the excavator up to drag the manure out. I have a four foot wide tilt bucket but it does not work as well as the rake with the teeth. Also I used the rake to break up the ice on one road so I could go up and down with my John Deere. I had the rake made in USA and shipped to Germany. So Farmersamm I know exactly what you are up against trying to get that uncooperative manure to bow to your wishes. Attached Images
Reply:Dang!I gotta find a way to make a 3 point for a little lawn tractor to pull a 3 tine rake to pull a small section of ivy. One of them things and I could do the job in 10 minutes.
Reply:The attachment for you excavator is a beautiful setupMy tine spacing, before I added the moldboard, is approx. 11 inches. I picked up enough stock to make more tines and cut the spacing down to around 4 1/2 inches.I hate to lose the plate, but not all of the welds are accessable to grind or cut out, so it's the torch I guessAnyhow, I wanted to say that your rake is a very elegant solution to a slightly less than elegant problem Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Samm,If you fill in the middles with extra tines, you might want to consider putting the staggered on a second row to the rear, not all lined up on one plane if you want to "groom" with it.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
