I made this a few years ago and just got around to painting it. I was given 78 pounds of bearings and just had to make this monster. Kids love it. It has drawn blood a few times and smashed some finger nails. Kids seem to like to play chicken with inanimate objects. I did not TIG the rings on the bearings. The Hottie math teacher is back. Reply:Stays stable.I have one more 3” bearing and 2 or 3 4" bearings to add. The 4" may move it around. I'm going to use different set up instead of hooks and probably go with cables not of chain on the redesignDave ReberWadsworth Ohio

Reply:--Wintermute I never asked her, but i enjoyed it.KnacKI imagine someone could but they are hard as hell so it would be toughI can take a picture of the ring they do a good job. I just need a new way to hang to the ring. I have something in mind I just don't recall what they are called.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:Conservation of energy, the unit shouldn't even think about moving. That's pretty cool, looks like they aren't all lined up too great. Might be important that they are so they don't shear and start going sideways. Don't want to get ball busted by a steel bearing when it goes sideways.
Reply:Good eye they are far from lined up. I just put them up for ther picture. They have to be right on for it to work. Once I add the other bearings and switch to cables I will post another picture.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio

Reply:Oxy you are strang man. But have great observation skills. She has two hands - no ball explosions.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:I only ask because i have some extra 1" stainless steel balls left over from my last project.  i might consider this toy, as i have about 25 or so left....  since i'll be using smaller balls, maybe only two of my fingers will disappear
Reply:With 25 bearings you could make a great cradle!!!!!!!Fishing line would work fine.reberDave ReberWadsworth Ohio

Reply:I wish I had a hottie teacher like that back when I was in school. I'd let her cradle my bearings.Nice work by the way. But just curious...why so tall? Couldn't it still work if it was about a foot or so shorter? Was the height a requirement or did you just figure it more aesthetically pleasing to have the bearings hang at center?
Reply:ECI made it tall for two reasons:1) It is for demos so I want it to be seen from the back. 2) I was not sure how long to make the chains so I wanted room to experiment with. Have a good day reberDave ReberWadsworth Ohio
